Georgian Party Rallies in Kakheti

The opposition Georgian Party held series of rallies in some of the towns of eastern region of Kakheti on May 9.

The Georgian Party said last week that it would launch “targeted” protest rallies over various issues from Kakheti region with an eventual goal to force President Saakashvili to resign. The party said that a series of rallies would be held in other parts of the country as well, eventually culminating with anti-government demonstrations in Tbilisi on an unspecified date.

A convoy of cars and minibuses, carrying leaders and activists from the Georgian Party, was in the village of Patardzeuli of Sagarejo district, as well as in Gurjaani, Telavi and Kvareli on May 9.
