Saakashvili Visits Hungary

President Saakashvili started on May 22 a two-day official visit to Hungary, which holds EU’s rotating presidency, Georgian and Hungarian presidents’ administrations said in separate press releases.

He will meet with his Hungarian counterpart Pal Schmitt on May 23, as well as speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Laszlo Kover and PM Viktor Orban, according to the Georgian President’s administration.

On May 22 President Saakashvili was in the town of Kiskoros, where Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi was born. There he laid flowers at a bust of Georgian poet, Grigol Abashidze, who translated Petofi’s poems into Georgian. In Kiskoros Saakashvili also laid the wreath at a bust of the Abkhaz poet and writer Bagrat Shinkuba.
