Police Say Search is on for Missing Batiashvili

The Interior Ministry said on May 28, that the police had launched searching Irakli Batiashvili, one of the leaders of the recent street protest rallies.

It said that the search started upon the public statements made by the Batiashvili’s family.

Batiashvili’s family said that he was missing together with his relative, who was also at the protest rally.

The Georgian Public Defender said on May 27, that “whereabouts of several dozen of persons remain unknown” after the protest rally was dispersed by the riot police outside the Parliament shortly after midnight on May 26.
