Saakashvili’s Bilateral Meetings in Rome

President Saakashvili held bilateral meetings with President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy and his Chilean counterpart, Sebastián Piñera in frames of his visit to Rome, the Georgian President’s administration reported.

Along with the issues of development of further relations in frames of EU Eastern Partnership, Saakashvili and Herman Van Rompuy “also discussed the ongoing negotiations on Russia’s WTO entry as well as the general situation in the region.”

“The two leaders discussed a wide range of international relations and spoke about the economic reforms implemented and currently ongoing in the country,” the Georgian President’s administration reported about Saakashvili’s meeting with his Chilean counterpart. 

In frames of his visit to Rome, where President Saakashvili attended the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, he also met with U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden on June 1.
