Saakashvili Meets Polish Parliament Speaker

President Saakashvili met on June 21 with speaker of the lower chamber of Poland's parliament, the Sejm, Grzegorz Schetyna, who paid a two-day visit to Georgia.

The Georgian President’s administration said that Poland, which takes over EU’s rotating presidency from July, would be Georgia’s “active supporter” in the process of integration to EU.

On June 20 the speaker of the Polish Parliament met with his Georgian counterpart, Davit Bakradze, who described Poland as Georgia’s “biggest supporter in Europe”. He said that relations between the two countries “are exemplary.”

Bakradze also said that the period when Poland will hold EU’s presidency would be the best chance to use excellent bilateral relations “with maximum of efficiency.”
