Gilauri Meets PM of Canada

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said after meeting his Canadian counterpart, Stephen Harper, in Ottawa on October 17, that Canada’s support for Georgia “is guaranteed” at the next NATO Summit.

The Georgian leadership hopes NATO summit in Chicago in May, 2012 will mark a significant step forward for Georgia in its drive to join the alliance.

“Canada is Georgia’s one of the most important partners in the international politics; Canada is a huge supporter of Georgia in every international organization, including in NATO,” MP Gilauri said.
 
PM Gilauri’s press office said that possible free trade agreement with Canada was also discussed during the meeting, as well as “a strategic agreement” between the two countries in the sphere of military cooperation.
