Parliament passed with its third and final reading new election code on December 27. Also on December 27 the Parliament approved with its third and final reading election-related constitutional amendments, envisaging the next Parliament’s slightly reshaped configuration with 77 party-list and 73 majoritarian MPs, instead of existing 75/75. According to the same constitutional amendments a party or an election bloc, clearing a 5% threshold, will be automatically awarded with six seats in the Parliament, thus having a possibility to form a parliamentary faction. The same amendments increase bar for passing constitutional amendment from current two-third to three-fourth of MPs in 150-seat Parliament starting from late 2013, after the presidential elections. |
