Term of Compulsory Military Service to Increase

The Georgian Parliament approved on February 17 with its first hearing legislative amendments increasing term of compulsory military service from current 12 to 15 months.

According to the authorities the current one-year term of service is not enough for proper training of conscripts.

According to the draft law, which has to be approved with second and third hearing, new 15-month term will not apply to those servicemen, conscripted before enforcement of the amendment.
