Leaders of an opposition coalition, Georgian Dream, led by Bidzina Ivanishvili, met with representatives of Tbilisi-based diplomatic missions on February 24.

The meeting, held at the coalition’s headquarters, aimed at informing foreign diplomats about the Georgian Dream’s “goals and action plan”, Ivanishvili’s press office said in a statement.

The coalition leaders also “spoke during the meeting about cases of pressure exerted by the authorities,” it said.

The goal of the coalition is “to replace the current government only through legal means,” Ivanishvili told foreign diplomats, among them U.S. ambassador John Bass. “We will not – and no one will force us to move out from the legal framework.”

“Our government has given up development of democratic institutions and as a result now we actually have an authoritarian regime,” Ivanishvili said.
