Central Bank Keeps Key Rate at 6.5%

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) kept its main policy rate unchanged at 6.5% on March 28 for a second consecutive month.

There was first deflation in 30 months in Georgia in February with 2.1% y/y.

"According to existing forecasts inflation will remain low in the first half of the year. Starting in June the inflation will start growing and it is expected to reach its target value by the beginning of the next year," the central bank said on March 28.
