Commander of U.S. Army in Europe Visits Tbilisi

Lieutenant General Mark P. Hertling, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Europe, holds series of meetings with senior Georgian government and military officials in Tbilisi on July 17, according to the U.S. embassy.

It said that the commander of the U.S. army in Europe would discuss ongoing military cooperation and training of Georgia troops and would “thank Georgia for its continued significant contributions to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.”

The U.S. embassy also said that the U.S. Army Europe “strengthens alliances and builds partner capacity and capability, including through its training for all Georgian soldiers deployed to Afghanistan who participate in a four-week training exercise in Hohenfels, Germany as part of their pre-deployment training.”
