Georgian Orthodox Church Leader Calls for High Voter Turnout

Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church said on Sunday that “everyone should go to the polls” on October 1 and expressed hoped that there will be no ballot rigging and Monday’s parliamentary elections would be conducted “peacefully”.

“There have never been such difficult preparations [in lead up to elections]. It means that these elections are very important and we expect that there will be no violations and these elections will not be falsified. Those, who people want to be elected, should be elected,” 

“These elections should be fair,” he said. “Justice is a foundation for peace.”
