Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of Georgian Dream coalition, said on Friday that he would name his nominees for ministerial posts on October 8.

He told journalists that he already had had an idea about how to distribute cabinet portfolios and would discuss it with other leaders from the Georgian Dream over the weekend.

Ivanishvili said that “there is a readiness from the present authorities to start the process” of handover even before the cabinet would be formally confirmed by the new Parliament.

Negotiators from the Georgian Dream coalition and the present authorities held first meeting on October 5 to discuss handover of government.

One of the Georgian Dream representatives, Davit Usupashvili, said after the meeting that before the formal confirmation of the new government “which will take several weeks, Georgian Dream will second its representatives  to all the key state institutions, including in the power-wielding structures [interior, defense and justice ministries], to secure stabile and painless handover.”

Ivanishvili said that the first meeting between negotiators from his coalition and present authorities was “very positive.”

“There was a very friendly conversation,” he said. “There will be no obstacles [in the process of power handover] and we will finalize the handover in a shortest period of time.”
