Bidzina Ivanishvili will pay his first foreign visit in the capacity of Georgia’s Prime Minister to Brussels, instead of originally intended trip to the United States.

Ivanishvili made the announcement after meeting with visiting EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood, Štefan Füle, on October 18.

“We had a very interesting conversation and we have also received many advices; I received an invitation [to visit] the Europe and I have been convinced that first of all I have to visit the Europe and my first foreign visit should be to Europe,” Ivanishvili said.

Ivanishvili said on October 3, that after becoming PM he would pay his first foreign visit to the United States after the November presidential elections there. He said at the time that he “received invitations from Europe too”, but would not travel “anywhere” before the visit to the U.S.
