Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 19 Apr.'13 / 16:25

Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue outside the old parliament building has been closed as UNM supporters gathered for a rally in Tbilisi center on Friday.

Senior UNM figures, including the party’s secretary general and former PM Vano Merabishvili and Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava are on the scene, as well as Secretary of National Security Council Giga Bokeria; it still remains unclear whether President Saakashvili, who is chairman of UNM, will show up at the rally or not.

The rally, which is expected to last for couple of hours, has also been joined by UNM activists and supporters, who arrived in Tbilisi from various parts of the country.
