In a televised address on Friday PM Ivanishvili has called on the Georgian voters in and outside the country to go to polling stations on October 27 and vote for “your favorite” presidential candidate. 

“It is the responsibility of each and every citizen to build and develop the state and that responsibility should primarily be assumed during elections. Elections give us a chance and also responsibility to influence on direction the country will move on and we should not miss this chance. Therefore I call on you to go to elections and to vote for your favorite candidate,” he said.

“I also want to appeal to our compatriots, who have to cast ballot abroad – do not be lazy, go to polls; you should know that each and every vote is valuable for Georgia,” Ivanishvili said.

In his address Ivanishvili also said that his government has provided “high standards” for holding the presidential election.

“We approached this election peacefully and it is a victory of the people and the country,” he said, noting that it will be the first time when Georgian President will be replaced through elections.

“Our government has assumed commitment to hold free, transparent, democratic elections of European standards,” he said.

October 25 marked the end of 11-week long campaign trial of GD presidential candidate Giorgi Margvelashvili. On Friday evening he made a joint appearance together with PM Ivanishvili on an outdoor concert of PM’s rapper son, Bera, in Tbilisi center. Both Margvelashvili and Ivanishvili addressed the audience at the concert.

UNM presidential candidate, Davit Bakradze, also wrapped up his campaign trial on October 25 with a speech delivered before supporters in a museum house of Ilia Chavchavadze, a 19th century Georgian public figure, in the town of Kvareli. He spoke of GD’s “unfulfilled” promises and the need for strong oversight over government.
