Georgia’s PM Irakli Garibashvili met U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in Munich on the sideline of annual security conference on January 31.

Georgian PM’s office said in a brief statement that bilateral cooperation was discussed with the focus made on “issues related on defense and security”, as well as on Georgia’s contribution to ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

Also on January 31, PM Garibashvili, who is accompanied in Munich by Defense Minister Irakli Alasania and Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze, met British Defense Secretary Philip Hammond.

Georgian PM’s office said that bilateral cooperation, as well as Georgia’s NATO integration including in the context of this year’s NATO summit in Wales in September was discussed with the British Defense Secretary.

On the sideline of the Munich security conference, PM Garibashvili also met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon; Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić; President of Croatia Ivo Josipović; Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev; Foreign Minister of Poland Radosław Sikorski; Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák; OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier; Prime Minister of Slovenia Alenka Bratušek; U.S. congressional delegation, led by Senator John McCain. He also met President of Germany's BDI industry association Ulrich Grillo.

Later on January 31 PM Garibashvili will be speaking at a panel discussion on Central and Eastern Europe alongside with Romanian President Traian Băsescu; Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara; leader of Ukraine’s UDAR opposition party Vitali Klychko; EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle; chairman of Russia’s State Duma committee on CIS and Eurasian integration Leonid Slutsky, and former U.S. national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski.
