Georgian PM to Visit U.S.

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili will be visiting the United States on February 22-March 1.

Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, said on Thursday that the visit will be made upon U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s invitation extended to the Georgian side when U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, visited Tbilisi in December.

“The visit has been under preparation since then,” Panjikidze said. “There will be meetings in the Department of State, Congress and the White House.”

The Georgian PM will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister, as well as Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili. 

PM Garibashvili said at a government session on February 20, that the visit has a “huge importance”, which will help to “further strengthen” bilateral cooperation.
