A meeting of Georgiana and Russian diplomats, originally scheduled for March 4-5 in Prague, has been postponed tentatively for mid-March upon Russian negotiator’s request, Georgian PM’s special representative for relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze, said.

This format of dialogue between the two countries, led by Abashidze and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, was launched in December, 2012 to address issues related mainly to trade, economy and people-to-people contacts.

Abashidze said on Monday that he thinks the meeting was postponed because of “technical” rather than “political” reasons.

“I hope we will meet on March 14. It was postponed upon his [Karasin’s] proposal,” he said while speaking with reporters on the sideline of a two-day conference in Tbilisi, which gathered a group of Georgian and Russian political and foreign policy analysts to discuss relations between the two countries.
