GD, UNM Fail to Agree on Joint Text of Parliament Resolution on Ukraine
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 6 Mar.'14 / 16:23

Georgian Dream ruling majority and UNM opposition lawmakers have failed to agree on a joint text of resolution on developments in Ukraine and each of the parliamentary group will present at the session on March 6 its respective, separate draft.

“Agreement on a joint text was not possible although we were very close to the agreement,” parliament speaker, Davit Usupashvili, said at a parliamentary bureau session on March 6.

GD and UNM lawmakers were in consultations for two days trying to come up with a bipartisan text; the major disagreement was related to UNM’s insistence to include in the text a point that would call on the Georgian government to “carry out active diplomatic campaign for the purpose of diplomatic isolation of and imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation.”
