Georgian, Dutch Defense Ministers Meet in Tbilisi

Dutch Defense Minister, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, met his Georgian counterpart Irakli Alasania in Tbilisi on April 1.

Alasania said after the meeting that the bilateral cooperation in defense sphere “will deepen and become more comprehensive.”

He said that the Netherlands is Georgia’s “long-time good friend”, as well as a “supporter” of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

The Dutch Defense Minister said that Georgia made progress on its path to NATO membership.

“One day Georgia is going to be a NATO member without a doubt,” she said.

She also said that the two countries “are very eager to strengthen” bilateral cooperation in number of areas, among them psychological rehabilitation of soldiers returning from international operations, as well as training of special forces and military police.

Also on April 1 Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert met Georgia’s PM Irakli Garibashvili.
