Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 3 Jul.'14 / 22:51

Romania became the first EU-member state to ratify EU’s Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, which were signed in Brussels on June 27.

Upper house of the Romanian legislative body, Senate, ratified the agreements at a session on July 3, a day after relevant legislation was passed by the lower house of the parliament, Chamber of Deputies.

“I would like to thank the representatives of Romania's executive and legislative bodies. Ratification of this agreement even before the Georgian parliament is a gesture of goodwill on behalf of our great friend, Romania,” Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, said.

Parliament in Moldova ratified its Association Agreement with the EU on July 2 and the Parliament in Georgia plans to ratify the document later this month.
