Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has “expressed deep condolences” to the family and “the entire Georgian people” over the death of Eduard Shevardnadze, Kremlin said.

Putin’s condolences came shortly after Shevardnadze’s death was reported on Monday afternoon.

Georgia’s second president and former foreign minister of the Soviet Union died on July 7 at the age of 86.
