Georgian Parliament will ratify the Association Agreement with the European Union on July 18, parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili said on Wednesday.

Usupashvili said that he would ask President Margvelashvili to convene an extraordinary session of the parliament for this purpose.

He was speaking at a joint news conference with speaker of upper houses of Poland’s parliament Bogdan Borusewicz after the meeting in Tbilisi.

Usupashvili said that Georgia will cooperate closely with Poland to help the Georgian Parliament in adopting legislation, required under the Association Agreement, “quickly and in a quality” manner.

Speaker of upper houses of Poland’s parliament, Bogdan Borusewicz, said that ratification of EU’s Association Agreement with Georgia will have no problems in the Polish legislative authority.

Romania became the first EU-member state to ratify EU’s Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine earlier this month.

Lithuanian parliament ratified the agreements on July 8.

Parliament in Moldova ratified its Association Agreement with the EU on July 2.
