Annual inflation was 3.4% in August, up from 2.8% in July, according to figures released by the state statistics office, Geostat, on Wednesday.

On monthly basis inflation rate stood at 0.5% in August, according to Geostat.

Prices on food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 6.4% year-on-year in August and prices on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes increased by 5.4% y/y.

There was 3.4% y/y increase of prices in healthcare services in August and prices on housing and transport group rose by 3% and 2.8% respectively. Prices on clothing and footwear dipped by 5.2% y/y in August, according to Geostat.
