President Giorgi Margvelashvili will address the Parliament on November 14, according to a decision of the parliamentary bureau on Monday.

Margvelashvili asked the Parliament to consider holding a session where he would make a “special address” to the legislative body and the nation last week after Irakli Alasania was sacked as defense minister following his allegations that recent arrest of MoD and general staff officials was an “attack on Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic choice.”

President Margvelashvili said on November 5: “Change of Georgia’s European course is actually impossible. But at the same time it is absolutely possible to raise a question about how efficiently each politician serves to the will of our nation and this question should be answered adequately.”

He also asked the government to convene a special meeting of the cabinet with his participation to discuss the issue.

Parliament speaker, Davit Usupashvili, said at the session of parliamentary bureau – a body uniting senior lawmakers setting legislative body’s weekly agenda, that the President would address at noon on Friday with about 30-minute long speech, which would then be followed by his speech.
