The U.S. transferred three detainees from the prison at Guantanamo Bay to Georgia, the U.S. Department of Defense said on Thursday.

All three are from Yemen. Georgia first received Guantanamo detainees in 2010, when the transfer of three men took place.

“The United States is grateful to the Government of Georgia for its willingness to support ongoing U.S. efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility,” the Department of Defense said. “The United States coordinated with the Government of Georgia to ensure these transfers took place consistent with appropriate security and humane treatment measures.”

The Georgian Interior Ministry said that transfer of three “low-risk detainees” from Guantanamo was carried out upon the “request from Georgia’s strategic partner, the United States.”

“These three inmates, like it was the case with those transferred in 2010, will return to their countries as well after finishing rehabilitation and re-socialization humanitarian program,” the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

The U.S. Department of Defense also announced about transfer of two Guantanamo detainees to Slovakia.
