Georgian Fighting for Ukraine Killed Close to Donetsk Airport

A Georgian national fighting on the Ukrainian side was killed in combat close to the Donetsk airport, according to his family members and other Georgians fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Tamaz Sukhiashvili, according to Georgians fighting on the Ukrainian side, was killed in a clash close to the village of Pisky, less than ten kilometers from the Donetsk airport, on January 17.

Three other Georgians were slightly wounded in the same clash; injuries are not life-threatening, Davit Makishvili, who fights on the Ukrainian side, told Tbilisi-based Rustavi 2 TV on January 18.

This is the third reported case of fatality among Georgians fighting in Ukraine.

Alexandre Grigolashvili, who fought on the Ukrainian side, was killed in combat in the town of Shchastya in the Luhansk region in December, 2014.

Shalva Bukhaidze, fighting on the side of the Russian-backed separatists, died in eastern Ukraine earlier this month.
