Chen Changzhi, vice-chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, China’s top legislative body, has started a three-day visit to Georgia.

Changzhi, who is the highest ranking Chinese legislator to visit Georgia, will meet President Giorgi Margvelashvili; PM Irakli Garibashvili and Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili in Tbilisi on June 8.

He will also visit Hualing Group, one of China’s largest investors in Georgia. On the first day of the visit, Changzhi visited Georgia’s eastern region of Kakheti, where he toured some of the wineries.

The visit comes less than a month after China’s Minister of Agriculture visited Georgia.

In March, when Georgia’s deputy PM and Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited China, the two countries agreed to launch feasibility study of possible bilateral free trade agreement.
