Annual Inflation 4.9% in December

Georgia’s annual inflation slowed to 4.9% in December, compared to 6.3% in November, according to figures released by the state statistics service, Geostat, on Monday.

On monthly basis there was 0.6% deflation in December.

Food prices were up 3.8% year-on-year in December and prices in the group of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes rose by 11% y/y.

Increased electricity bill pushed annual inflation in housing, water and energy group to 8.3% y/y in December.

Prices in the healthcare group were up 10.5% y/y in December, driven by 24.2% increase in prices on medical products and equipment, and 7.7% increase in prices on outpatient care.

Prices in the group of household maintenance and equipment rose 9.2% y/y in December.

Prices in the hotel and restaurant sector increased 5.5% y/y in December.

Annual inflation decline by 4.2% in the transport group with prices on fuel and lubricates decreasing by 12.1% y/y in December.
