Georgian Foreign Ministry said it is closely following developments in Georgia’s “neighbor and strategic partner” Turkey, where military said it had seized power but President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan vowed that the coup attempt would fail.
“We hope that the situation will be normalized peacefully,” the Georgian MFA said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry has called on the Georgian citizens in Turkey to stay indoors and “in case of necessity” to get in touch with the Georgian embassy in Turkey (+905336903040, +905418184400).
