Zviad Gogotchuri won gold in men’s under 90 kg judo at the Rio Paralympic Games.

This is Georgia’s first-ever medal of Paralympic Games.

Gogotchuri, 29, won the gold medal after defeating Ukraine’s Oleksandr Nazarenko in the final on September 10.

Georgia made its debut at Paralympic Games in 2008 in Beijing.
