(Tbilisi. April 16, 2003. Civil Georgia) - Georgian pop star Giorgi Gachechiladze, with nickname Utsnobi (Unknown) announced today that he joins the opposition United Democrats party, led by former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania.

The decision comes as a surprise, because Giorgi Gachechiladze is the brother of Levan Gachechiladze, leader of the opposition New Rights party.

“My decision aims to trigger unification of the opposition parties. I hope after this decision opposition will unite,” Giorgi Gachechiladze said at the news briefing today.
