Tbilisi-based Abkhaz Supreme Council-in-exile failed again today to elect a new Chairman.

“The Supreme Council is not ready to elect new head,” former head of the Abkhaz government in exile Tamaz Nadareishvili, who was the ally of ex-President Eduard Shevardnadze and resigned on January 13, told reporters today.

According to official reports, 5 candidates will contest for the post of the head of the Abkhaz government in exile.

Among them there are members of the Supreme Council Teimuraz Mzhavia, who is the member of the ruling National Movement-Democrats party, also Napoleon Meskhia, Jemal Gamakharia and two former deputy chairmen of Supreme Council Giorgi Gvazava and Davit Gergedava.

Officials of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government say that they will hold consultations over the issue with the central authorities.
