Saakashvili: Georgia, Turkey ‘Natural Allies’

Visiting Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in Ankara today, that Georgia and Turkey are “natural allies and friends.”

He hailed Turkey’s “positive role in resolving Adjara crisis.”

“I welcome the constructive role Turkey has played in settlement of Adjara’s crisis. Turkey has proved that it is a real friend of Georgia,” President Saakashvili said at a joint news briefing with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on May 20.
 
“We are natural partners with great traditions and nothing will hamper the development of our relations,” Saakashvili added.
 
President Saakashvili arrived in Turkey on a three-day official visit on May 20 to discuss bilateral cooperation. 
 
As the Turkish new agency Anadolu reports, Saakashvili will also meet with Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.
