According to the final vote tally of the Adjarian Supreme Election Commission, published on June 28, only two parties - President Saakashvili’s Victorious Adjara and the Republican Party, will gain seats in Adjara’s legislative body – the Supreme Council.

Victorious Adjara received 72.1% of the votes in the June 20 snap elections while the Republican Party garnered 13.5%. The candidates from the pro-Saakashvili party also won elections in all of the 12 single-mandate constituencies of Adjara.

As a result, the Victorious Adjara will occupy 28 seats of the 30 seats in the Supreme Council. The remaining two will be occupied by the Republican Party.

All of the other eight parties running in the elections failed to clear the 7% threshold necessary for securing seats in the legislative body.

According to the final vote tally The Industry Will Save Georgia received 5% support; the Democratic Truth Party – 4%; the Labor Party – 1.2%; the NDP-Traditionalists – 1%. With the remaining four parties receiving less than 1% of votes apiece.

According to the Adjarian Supreme Election Commission, 120,000 voters out of Adjara’s 158,400 eligible voters cast ballot during the June 20 local elections.
