Russian MPs to Monitor Abkhazia Presidential Polls

Abkhazia presidential candidate Sergey Bagapsh said, on January 6, that Russian MPs will monitor the presidential elections in the breakaway republic, which are scheduled for January 12.

“The relationship with the Russian Federation is most important for Abkhazia,” news agency Itar-Tass quotes Sergey Bagapsh as saying.

“Today, thanks to the Russian Federation, we manage to maintain peace in Abkhazia,” Bagapsh said while meeting with representatives of the Abkhaz non-governmental organizations in Sokhumi.
