Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov presented his condolences today regarding the death of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and described those statements made by some Georgian politicians claiming that “certain forces in Russia” could be behind the Prime Minister’s death as politically motivated.

“We insist on establishment and development of normal relations with Georgia notwithstanding who is in Georgia’s leadership,” Sergey Lavrov said.

In an interview to the RIA Novosti news agency Georgian MP Alexandre Shalamberidze alleged that the terrorist act in Gori on February 1 and the death of Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania can be considered parts of one process which is masterminded “by certain forces operating in Russia.”
