Georgia, Russia Set Date for Talks over Military Bases

Russian-Georgian talks over the withdrawal of Russian military bases stationed in Georgia will be held on March 23-24, the Georgian President’s spokesperson, Gala Charkviani, said on Wednesday.

Charkviani said that the agreement was reached on March 15 during  phone talks between President Mikheil Saakashvili and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“The conversation was very constructive and significant progress is being observed over this issue [of the military bases],” the Georgian President’s spokesperson said at a news briefing.
