EU to Send Observers to Georgia

The European Union’s foreign policy chief Javier Solana confirmed on March 18 that the EU intends to send two or three civilians to observe the situation in Georgian in areas around the country, including near the Russian border, Reuters reported.

"We are willing to go beyond that. I cannot tell you the size at the moment," Reuters reports quoting Solana as saying after a meeting of EU Defense Ministers in Luxembourg. He added the the EU staff could help train Georgian guards to monitor the border themselves.
