Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 7 Oct.'06 / 12:58

The recent tensions in Russo-Georgian relations were discussed during a telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Georgian counterpart Gela Bezhuashvili on October 7, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported.

Minister Mottaki expressed his concern over the situation and called on the two countries to settle the issue in a peaceful way.

The sides also discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers also focused on energy issues. They agreed that Gela Bezhuashvili and Energy Minister Nika Gilauri will visit Iran in the near future to prepare a meeting of the Georgian-Iranian economic commission, which will apparently be held by the end of 2006.
