3 Injured in S.Ossetia Shootout
Civil Georgia / 30 Jun.'07 / 15:06

A resident in the Georgian village of Tamarasheni and two residents of the breakaway South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, were injured as a result of “an intense shootout” in the conflict zone on June 30, reports say.

Seventeen-year old Vakhtang Goglidze was injured during shelling of Tamarasheni. The mortar fire came from the Ossetian villages of Kverneti and Tskhinvali, according to Georgian media sources.

The South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported that Yuri Maisuradze and Asiat Biazrova, residents of the breakaway region’s capital, were injured after Tskhinvali and two Ossetian villages, Kverneti and Kurset, were shelled.

“A mortar has also destroyed a house on Kutuzov street [in Tskhinvali],” the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee said.

Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-loyal provisional South Ossetian administration, called on the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPKF) on June 30 “to immediately undertake measures” to provide security in the conflict zone.
