Burjanadze Meets Imedi TV Journalists
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 14 Nov.'07 / 20:35

A group of Imedi TV journalists and producers met with Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze on November 14.

“We have not received any concrete date from [Nino Burjanadze] as to when Imedi TV will be able to resume broadcasting,” Levan Vepkhvadze, a producer at the station, told reporters after the meeting.

Tbilisi City Court has suspended Imedi TV’s broadcast license, claiming the station's coverage of the November 7 unrest in Tbilisi amounted to incitement to overthrow the government.

Vepkhvadze pointed out that the court order only covered Imedi TV, and not the company's radio station. “Imedi radio station, however, is on the same premises as the TV station and is sealed off,” he said.

He also said that the amount of material damage inflicted as a result of the police raid on the television station was still unclear. “Our American partners [News Corporation] plan on paying a visit to do an audit,” Vepkhvadze said.

Before meeting with the group of journalists, Burjanadze held a separate meeting with Inga Grigolia, the anchor of Imedi TV’s political talk shows.
