Abkhazia to Open Representation in Northern Cyprus
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 10 Jan.'08 / 11:05

The Abkhaz authorities will open a representation in the unrecognized Turkish Cypriot state of Northern Cyprus, Apsnypress news agency reported on January 9.

The decision was made during the visit of Abkhaz Deputy Foreign Minister Maksim Gvinjia to Northern Cyprus on January 5-8.

Gvinjia held talks with the Turkish Cypriot authorities and the Abkhaz Diaspora. About 500 Abkhazians live there.

“We have common interests and are interested in the international recognition of our independence,” Gvinjia said.

The Abkhaz authorities also plan to establish relations with other unrecognized states, including Taiwan, Apsnypress news agency reported.
