Families Back to Village in Gali
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 28 Feb.'09 / 10:43

Dozens of Georgian families, which, as they said, were forced out of their homes by the Abkhaz militias, were able to return back to the village of Otobaia in Gali district on February 27, the Georgian sources reported.

The Georgian authorities said that about 50 families were evicted from their homes in Otobaia on February 26. The authorities in breakaway Abkhazia have strongly denied the allegation and claimed that the Georgian side was deliberately fueling up tension in the region ahead of the planned visit of Heidi Tagliavini to Abkhazia. Swiss diplomat, Heidi Tagliavini, leads the EU-funded inquiry mission, which probes into the August war. According to Apsnipress the mission plans to visit Abkhazia on March 2.
