Giorgi Targamadze, leader of the parliamentary minority group and of Christian-Democratic Movement (CDM), met with visiting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Philip H. Gordon.
“He [Gordon] expressed his position that time for supporting personalities is over and time is coming when they will actively support the development and strengthening of democratic institutions. This is very important,” Targamadze told journalists after the meeting.
He said that ongoing political developments in Georgia, as well as issues related with security were discussed during the meeting, which was also attended by MP Nika Laliashvili of the Christian-Democratic Movement.
After meeting with Giorgi Targamadze, the U.S. diplomat met with three opposition leaders: Irakli Alasania, leader of Alliance for Georgia; Nino Burjanadze, leader of Democratic Movement-United Georgia and Levan Gachechiladze.
