Imedi TV station opened its primetime news bulletin on Tuesday evening by announcing that a new candidate would join the Tbilisi mayoral race.
Imedi TV reported that Nika Ivanishvili, who was head of traffic police in late 90s, said would establish a political party and run in the local elections planned for May, 2010.
Imedi TV’s five-minute long report about Ivanishvili was followed by a three-minute long live interview with him.
Although he ran for Tbilisi City Council membership in 2006 local elections under the Industrialists party-list, Ivanishvili has not been engaged in politics.
