There is a potential of receiving USD 500 million FDI from China and India in next two or three years, Georgian PM, Nika Gilauri, said on November 3.

“The potential projects range from investments in port, construction of trade center and new metallurgical factory. Our Economy Ministry and our embassies in those countries should now work actively with investors in order to materialize all these projects,” he said. “There is a huge interest and we hope that we will actually see quite significant investment projects implemented by Chinese and Indian companies in the near future.”

He also said that Georgia was interesting for Chinese and Indian investors as a transit country and as a potential hub where they could produce products and then export to the western markets.

On the political part of his visit, PM Gilauri said both China and India reiterated their support to Georgia’s territorial integrity.

The Georgian Prime Minister noted that the both countries expressed “huge support” to Georgia’s territorial integrity.
