2011 State Budget to be Amended
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 14 Mar.'11 / 16:58

Georgia’s 2011 state budget will be amended to adjust it in line with recently approved package of downscaling Ministry of Environment, according to the government.

The draft amendment, submitted to the Parliament for consideration, envisages cutting of Environment Ministry’s funding from GEL 27.2 million to GEL 15 million and increasing of Energy Ministry’s funding from GEL 204.7 million to GEL 216.8 million.

Starting from March 18 the Energy Ministry will incorporate some of the Environment Ministry’s functions related with use of natural resources as a result of restructuring approved by the Parliament last week. It will be renamed into the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will also incorporate some of the Economy Ministry’s functions, involving issuing licenses on use of natural resources; as a result funding of the Economy Ministry will be reduced by GEL 115,000.

The budgetary amendment will also apply to Ministry for Regional Development and Infrastructure, whose funding will be increased by GEL 118,000. The ministry will incorporate functions related with coastal management, which previously was under the Ministry of Environment’s subordination.
