Polish President to Visit Georgia
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 25 Jul.'11 / 11:59

President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, will be paying official visit to Georgia on July 26-27 as part of his six-day trip to three South Caucasus countries.

On July 26 Komorowski will meet his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Saakashvili, and other officials in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town of Batumi and next day will participate in Polish-Georgian business forum in Tbilisi, according to an official program of the visit.

In the capital the Polish President will also meet with civil society representatives and visit EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) headquarters. Andrzej Tyszkiewicz from Poland has been appointed as new head of EUMM earlier this month. Poland, which now holds EU’s rotating presidency, contributes 23 personnel to EUMM.

The Polish President will arrive in Georgia from Azerbaijan and will then travel to Armenia on July 27-29.

“Georgia has especially close relations with Poland,” Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, Nino Kalandadze, said on July 25. “We try not only to maintain these relations but also to further deepen them. This visit [by the Polish President] is a clear confirmation of it.”

She said that Poland “is a very active lobbyist of Georgia on international arena, especially in the European Union”.
